This energy storage project at a logistics park in Ganzhou, Jiangxi, involved deploying a battery energy storage system with PCS (Power Conversion System) cabinets connected to the DC side of battery compartments. The original design specified three parallel strands of 300 mm² cables per connection, but the large diameter and heavy weight of the multi-strand bundles made routing through the narrow ducting channels extremely challenging. After evaluating alternatives, the owner selected Yanghua's 1600A flexible busbar. A single busbar run could satisfy the full current-carrying requirement that previously demanded three parallel cables. The busbar's high flexibility and compact dimensions enabled direct turning inside the cabinets, simplified handling and laying within restricted ducting, and provided a cleaner, more maintainable installation for the energy storage application.
Project Background & Challenges
The PCS-to-battery DC side connection required three parallel 300 mm² cables per circuit, creating excessively large and heavy bundles that were extremely difficult to route through narrow ducting channels. The limited cabinet and duct space could not properly accommodate the multi-strand cable volumes needed for 1600A current capacity.
- Three parallel 300 mm² cables per circuit creating excessive conductor volume in narrow ducting channels
- Heavy multi-strand cable bundles difficult to handle and route through restricted cabinet and duct spaces
- Limited turning radius inside PCS cabinets incompatible with rigid large-diameter multi-cable bundles
- Energy storage application requiring reliable long-term DC-side connection with minimal maintenance access
Solution
Yanghua's 1600A flexible busbar replaced the three parallel 300 mm² cables with a single conductor run. The compact, highly flexible busbar could turn directly inside cabinets, navigate narrow ducting easily, and deliver full 1600A capacity without the bulk and weight of multi-strand cable bundles.
- Deployed 1600A flexible busbar as single-conductor replacement for 3×300 mm² multi-strand cable configuration
- Compact busbar profile enabled smooth routing through narrow ducting without bundling or congestion
- High flexibility allowed direct in-cabinet turns, eliminating the need for complex cable management hardware
- Single-conductor design simplified cable laying, reduced handling weight, and improved long-term maintainability
