This project focuses on connecting a photovoltaic generation system to the outlet end of the low-voltage busbar in Hubei Province. The owner's original design specified a multi-split cable approach using 240 mm² cables with multiple parallel runs, which carried a higher overall material cost. Yanghua's flexible busbar solution was selected as a cost-advantaged alternative, providing equivalent current-carrying capacity at a lower price point. The flexible busbar was installed to bridge the photovoltaic grid-connection point to the low-voltage distribution busbar, achieving a simpler and more economical electrical connection.
Project Background & Challenges
The original design using 240 mm² multi-split parallel cables resulted in high material costs and complex installation, creating a need for a more economical and simpler connection solution.
- Original 240 mm² multi-split cable design incurred high procurement costs due to large copper cross-section requirements
- Multiple parallel cable runs complicated routing, termination, and cable management within the electrical room
- Competing budget pressures required a more cost-effective solution without compromising system reliability
- Tight project economics demanded optimization of balance-of-system electrical connection expenses
Solution
Yanghua provided flexible busbars as a direct substitute for the multi-split cable configuration, achieving equivalent electrical performance with significantly lower material expenditure and simplified installation.
- Substituted multi-split 240 mm² cables with an equivalently-rated flexible busbar at a lower per-meter cost and reduced total copper usage
- Eliminated the complexity of managing multiple parallel cable runs by consolidating into a single flexible busbar path
- Simplified termination and connection procedures, reducing skilled labor hours for cable lugging and routing
- Provided the same current-carrying capacity with better heat dissipation characteristics due to the flat conductor geometry
